MLK TRIBUTE WEEKEND

We are commemorating Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King a little late with two great films!

Loving (Friday 1/27) 

The story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple, whose challenge of their anti-miscegenation arrest for their marriage in Virginia led to a legal battle that would end at the US Supreme Court.

 

Dear White People (Saturday 1/28)

How do Black students survive an elite Ivy League institution that wasn’t made for them? This satirical comedy follows four black students in the midst of a BSU election who do just that.

 

Both films will be screened in Thomas 224. Hope to see you there!

Marvel vs. DC Film Screening Event

This semester, for our big film screening event, we decided to have Marvel vs. DC (11/11-11/12) theme film screenings to go along with the dining hall special dinner of the same theme! Usually, Film Series has one large screening a semester but we decided to double it up this semester since we co-hosted one film a week for this quarter. We showed Captain America: Civil War and Suicide Squad with raffles, pizza, Insomnia cookies, and a superhero themed photo booth for people to takes pictures at!

Both of the film screens for Captain America: Civil War and Suicide Squad had a great turn out! Can’t wait for next semester’s screenings!!

BMC Film Series presents Marvel vs DC in TGH110 . We bring you two superhero teams: The Avengers vs Suicide Squad. You decide who did it better.

Captain America: Civil War (Friday 11/11) 

Trouble in paradise. Political pressure to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. Captain America  believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, the rest of the Avengers must pick a side.

Suicide Squad (Saturday 11/12) 

Rotten Tomatoes gave Suicide Squad 4.7/10. Was it really that bad or does Rotten Tomatoes just really hate DC movies? Are they bad superheroes or just bad? Come find out on Saturday.

Nerve (Saturday 11/5) 

A high school senior finds herself immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of “watchers.”

Bryn Mawr Film series presents two seriously spooky films (one more so than the other) for Halloween!

The Orphanage (Friday 10/28)

Mujeres is co-hosting this horror film.

Rotten Tomatoes: Deeply unnerving and surprisingly poignant, The Orphanage is an atmospheric, beautifully crafted haunted house horror film that earns scares with a minimum of blood.

Hocus Pocus (Saturday 10/29)

A Halloween classic sure to put a spell on you! After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to their reign of terror once and for all.
